By submitting your information you consent to the use of your Data as set out in this Policy.  Any information that you give us is held with the utmost care and security.  It will not be used in ways to which you have not consented.

Monitoring and Analysis

We use aggregate information and statistics collected via the Internet to carry out analysis that will allow us to monitor the success of our service and plan future site content and activity and may provide such aggregate information to third parties.  These statistics will not include information that can be used to identify any individual.

Cookies

Provident Insurance Plc uses a feature of your Internet Web Browser called a 'Cookie' on our site. A Cookie is a file that your Web Browser places on your computer's hard disc that allows us to help you get the best out of your visit to the site. Provident Insurance Plc uses Cookies to make accessing the site more convenient.  The Provident Insurance Plc Cookie will remain on your hard disk indefinitely. Security

The Internet is not a secure medium.  Provident Insurance Plc treats all the data held with the utmost care and security. Any details you give will remain completely confidential.  Firewalls are used to block unauthorised traffic to the servers and the actual servers are located in a secure location that can only be accessed by authorised personnel.

Whilst we strive to protect your Data, we cannot warrant the absolute security of any Data that you transmit to us online.

You must not use the services provided by us for any illegal purpose, or for accessing, receiving or transmitting any material deemed illegal, indecent, offensive or otherwise unacceptable under UK law.

You must not use any false identity in email or other network communications.

Policy changes

If we change our Privacy Policy we will post the changes on this page and may place notices on other pages of the web site, so that you may be aware of the information we collect and how we use it at all times. Continued use of the service will signify that you agree to any such changes.

Fair Processing Notice

The following Notice sets out how we use your information.  You should read this Notice carefully and you should show it to anyone insured to drive the vehicle covered under the policy. 

We may use your information for credit scoring, customer profiling, research, credit checking, system testing and, to manage your insurance policy: administration, underwriting, renewal and claims handling.  We may also use your information to send you information about products and services we offer.  We may also pass your information to other companies within our group and their agents and service providers and to other selected companies to use for the same purposes. Your information may continue to be used for these purposes and in order to comply with statutory obligations after your insurance policy has ended. You may be contacted by mail, telephone or e-mail. If you do not want us to send you information about other products and services, or to pass your details to other companies, you should request that we do not do so, in writing, addressed to ‘Customer Service Groups' at the address shown overleaf.


By applying to us for insurance you give explicit consent to us processing sensitive data such as health and criminal conviction details for the purposes stated above. We may monitor and record any communication with us for training, administrative, dispute resolution and quality purposes.

To assess your insurance application/renewal and the terms on which cover may be offered, we may obtain information about you from Credit Reference Agencies.  They will keep a record of our enquiries.  We may also pass to Credit Reference Agencies information we hold about you and your payment record with us.  Credit Reference Agencies share information with other organisations, enabling applications for financial products to be assessed and to assist in the tracing of debtors or to prevent fraud.

Your policy details will be added to the Motor Insurance Database (MID), run by the Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB). MID data may be used by the DVLA and DVLNI for the purpose of Electronic Vehicle Licensing and by law enforcement agencies for the purposes of establishing whether a driver's use of the vehicle is likely to be covered by a motor insurance policy and/or for preventing and detecting crime. If you are involved in an accident (in the UK or abroad), other UK insurers and the MIB may search the MID to obtain relevant policy information. Persons pursuing a claim in respect of a road traffic accident (including citizens of other countries) may also obtain relevant information which is held on the MID. To prevent and detect crime, fraud and prevent money laundering we may, at any time, share information about you with other organisations and public bodies including law enforcement agencies and check and/or file your details with fraud prevention agencies and databases. If you give false or inaccurate information, we will record this and details will be passed to fraud prevention agencies to help prevent fraud and money laundering.  We and other organisations may also search these agencies and databases to help make decisions about the provision of credit or credit-related services or motor, household, credit, life or any other insurance proposals and associated claims.  It may also be used to trace debtors, recover debt, prevent fraud, manage your accounts and insurance policies and for statistical analysis, claims assessment and checking details of job applications and employees.  We and other organisations may access from other countries and use the information recorded by fraud prevention agencies.  If you wish to receive details of the fraud prevention agencies and other third parties to whom your data has been disclosed please contact our Customer Relations team whose contact details are below.


Under the conditions of your policy, you must tell us about any incident (such as an accident or theft) which may or may not give rise to a claim. When you tell us about an incident we will pass information relating to it to these databases. We may search these databases when you apply for insurance, in the event of any incident or claim, or at the time of renewal to validate your claims history or that of any other person or property likely to be involved in the policy or claim.

For the purpose of settling your claim or administering your insurance, we may pass your details to our service providers including repair companies and personal injury claims handlers so that, if you have a claim, they may be able to provide a service for you such as commencing repair work without first contacting us.

We and the other companies noted above may from time to time need to undertake some of the processing of your data in countries outside of the European Economic Area and in such cases we or they will ensure that there is an agreement in place relating to the processing of your data which gives equivalent assurances relating to the processing of data as found in the Data Protection Act 1998.

You have the right to request that we correct any inaccuracies in the information that we hold about you and, on payment of a fee, you have the right to request a copy of the information we hold about you. If you have a complaint we will be pleased to send you a copy of our internal complaint handling procedures on request. These procedures do not affect your legal rights.
