Protecting your details online

At Provident Insurance we care about the security of your personal and financial details. We understand the level of trust you place in us by giving us your personal information and card details and we'll take reasonable steps to make sure we employ appropriate security controls to protect your information. Any personal information (including sensitive information) you provide through your use of the website will be dealt with in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

To help keep your accounts safe, please avoid using the same password for multiple accounts across numerous websites. The password for each account, including Provident Insurance, should be unique.

Encryption

Encryption converts all the information you type in online into a coded form before it is securely sent to us over the internet. This stops unauthorised users from reading the information you send.

At Provident Insurance we use SSL-128-bit encryption as a minimum which means that your personal and credit/debit card details and information will stay private in transit to our systems.

You'll need your password and email address to access the "My Account" area on our website. You must keep this password safe and not disclose it to anyone. We cannot accept any responsibility or liability if a third party obtains and uses your password or if you've lost your password. You must tell us immediately if you've forgotten or lost your email address or password, or if you believe a third party may have obtained it. Please also tell us if you would like us to change your email address or password for any reason.

Due to the nature of the internet, your communications may route through a number of countries before being delivered. We cannot accept responsibility for any unauthorised access or loss of personal information that is beyond our control.

Card Safety

Provident Insurance also supports MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by Visa. These are extra security measures introduced to make sure your details are secure when buying your policy with Provident Insurance. Once you enter your bank details and click PAY NOW on the Provident Insurance website you'll then see a MasterCard or Visa additional security page. How to spot a secure website

You'll see when you're in a secure part of our website such as when we're taking payment information, the web address starts with https. The "s" in https stands for secure, and shows the site is using a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connection. Some website browsers also show a picture of a padlock in the address bar or near the bottom corner of your screen. If you double-click the padlock, you'll see the security certificate for that website.

Things to look for in a secure website

When visiting a website that asks for sensitive and/or personal information, such as credit card numbers or your national insurance number, the first step you can take to securing your privacy is creating a strong password. Equally important is verifying that any information you enter on this site is transmitted and stored properly. Once your information is entered online, it's transmitted as plain text for anyone to intercept. To avoid this, make sure that the website is encrypted over a secure connection.
